Simon Pagenaud wins Indianapolis 500 for the 1st time
Simon Pagenaud wins the 103rd edition of the Indianapolis 500 for the first time in his career. He is the first Frenchman to win this race since René Thomas in 1914.
After his start in karting, he moved up to the next level in 2001 and finished second in the French Formula Renault Elf Campus Championship, driving a Mygale Formula 2000.
